My interest in dogs has existed for as long as I can remember. My first, own dog was an English Cocker Spaniel, born in 1971; he was a true sweetheart. He was followed by a Red Irish Setter, then a Dalmatian, later on Bullterriers and in the early eighties Longhair Dachshunds (all three FCI sizes) came into the picture. This was when Swede Sun’s Kennel was founded.

The realisation soon dawned that something important was amiss... it was of course the Basset Hounds! The first Basset Hound was welcomed to Swede Sun’s in 1986 and from then on I was hooked... completely addicted to this unique breed!

Through the years the kennel produced 62 litters of Longhair Dachshunds, the last of these in 2002.

Swede Sun’s Kennel produced an innumerable number of BOB winners, Hound Group winners and Best in Show winners from those beautiful little longhaired fellows. Apart from their great achievements in the breed ring, the Dachshunds earned 59 Breeder Group Honour Prize awards. Over the years these little ones brought so much fun and joy to the ring; one can only lovingly treasure the good memories.

In 1997 Swede Sun’s Kennel was awarded the Merit Gold Medal from the Swedish Dachshund Club for its meritorious contribution towards the breeding of top quality Longhair Dachshunds and improving the breed.

Nowadays Swede Sun's kennel just breeds Basset Hounds. Together with all the Bassets at the kennel lives as well Bosse's gundogs, kennel Wingmarks.

The kennel has so far produced 75 Basset Hound litters and I am still eager to further refine and improve the breed. My curiosity regarding this wonderful breed is still alive and well and it keeps me going.

My purpose is not only to breed Basset Hounds of distinguished breed type that are anatomically correct with excellent and free movement, but also, and most of all hounds with wonderful temperaments and sound health: all this to make them suitable as tracking hounds, for the challenges in the show ring and of course as beloved family members.

To be able to reach this I have tried to find all over the world the best possible blood-lines which then have been incorporated to the Basset Hounds in my kennel.

Those lines has given Swede Sun's Kennel the possibility to bred numerous Champions “all around the world”, 11 World-Winners,  2 BOB- and 1 BOS-winner at Crufts/UK, BOB/BOS-winners at the Hound Show/UK and all other different kind of titles. Also so many CC/CAC/CACIB-winners, BOB-winners, Group-winners and Best in Show winners so I even have lost the count of them. So far there are 105 Champions of Basset Hounds and more then 400 Breeder Group Honour Prize awards. Also innumerable Progeny Groups has been awarded with Honour Prizes.

It has been exported 113 Swede Sun's bassets to 33 different countries. Here you find more INFO about the kennel's conquests.

In 1995 the Swedish Basset Hound Society initiated a competition to select the top breeder of the year. Swede Sun’s Kennel has been honoured with this coveted and prestigious award for twenty five (25) consecutive years (Top Breeder no.1) in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

In 2002 Swede Sun’s Kennel was awarded the Merit Bronze Medal from the Swedish Basset Hound Society for its meritorious breeding of top quality Basset Hounds. The year 2005 it was followed by the Merit Silver Medal. The highest award, the Merit Gold Medal was awarded to Swede Sun’s Kennel in the year 2009.

As a continuation of my interest in dogs I got myself a ring steward license and also a complete hunting examination.

Shortly after this I qualified as an authorized FCI show judge as well. Further down this page you can see the list of the breeds which I’m qualified, by the FCI system, to award CC/CAC, and judge at Championship Show level. There you can also see some photos from different judging appointments around the world.

I have judged in following countries: Australia, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, USA and Austria.

I have also earlier bred horses for nearly 20 years, BUT that is a story for another day...
